Studying overseas has become a popular phenomenon in China.Each years,thousands of students heads to western countries such as the US,Canada,Europe and Australia for education.However,amongst those following this growing trend of studying abroad,the motivation for majority of the student is not the pure and innocent purpose of broadening views and acquiring knowledge,but to get a diploma and gain an advantage in job markets over their Chinese counterparts.Therefore,I believe that overseas returnees to China should not have preferential access to employment.
As I have mentioned,the quality and effect of studying abroad is doubtful in nature,since there is hardly any pure intellecualism behind their motivations.When you explore universities even high schools in the USA or Canada,you can often discover Chinese students relaxing.When asked why they're not in class,their response will be that they don't need to go and study,they can just study a little bit and get a diploma.If the sole purpose of studying abroad is to gain a diplomma while not actually increasing their knowledge and skill,then they should not have that big an advantage over their competitors who do not have a foreign diploma.Thus,it would be absurd to give oversea returnees priority if in fact they are not superior or even inferior to their Chinese competitors.
Even if oversea students gained genuine knowledge,attitude and skill in their foreign experience,they still should not be granted priority.There is a huge difference between Western Education and Chinese Education,and those who received Western Education may not be famailiar with the particular situations in China,thus not particularly suitable to perform certain jobs.You can often see foreign experts or oversea returnees wasting a corporation's resources because their training does not help them perform their jobs effectively since their training is totally based in an oversea environment.
Therefore,for the above reasons,oversea returnees should not have preferential access to employment.
