Multiple Ways to Success
Recently,a big event happened in my family which upset all the family members,except the protagonist,my younger brother.He suddenly informed us that he had already quitted school and arrived at the home city from his far college city.My mother shouted at him through telephone:” you had better go back to school immediately,if not you are not allowed to step into my house and to get money from me.” My brother said word by word firmly:” I will do what I have planed.I am sorry if you do not agree.”
Then I saw my mom hang up the phone and sit there for a long time without any expression.My father getting the news,he smoked a cigarette after another and sighed one after another which is rarely seen at my home.
I knew very early that he would finally make this decision and live on his own meaning.It recalled my faded memory when we were children.At that age,every child liked playing children games,such as ball rolling,hunting and cards playing.However,he had little interest in these things.What he loved most was to select something useful in garbage and then sold them for a little money.He told me his interest and dream rolled into a successful business man.He felt cheerful and excited as long as making deals and earning money.
During those years,he sacrificed all his spare time to such business which he called exercise for real sale.He even would like to go several buyers and chose one who gave the most favorable price.He did a lot only if it can earn money.
His favorable TV program was Boss Town in which many successful business men were invited to talk about their experiences and skills of success.Every time he knew a business man and enthusiastically desired to tell me.
He spared so much time on these things and barely spared a little to study.So his poor study situation was doomed.The worse the study was,the less time he would like to spend on it.The vicious circle leads him to the desperate swamp of study.
Luckily,he was accepted by a technology school half a year ago.All the family members had not so worried about his future.Since it is a certificate society,he will find a job and support himself which means a relatively decent life begins.
His recent unexpected decision disappoints my parents extremely.In their minds,study is the only way to lead a happy,affluent and comfortable life.My brother quitting study,to them,represents quitting such kind of life which is everyone’s purpose.
I have to comfort my parents that every road leads to Rome although I do not know weather my brother’s decision is right or wrong either.But what I am sure is that he has devoted himself to what he loves and made a decision to get close to the destination.
Making a decision is not a success,but it is a door entering into the labyrinth of success.Maybe he can not conquer the labyrinth,at least he tried and endeavored for his dream so hard,he would not feel regret when he reminds his youth.So he lost nothing.Maybe he will conquer the labyrinth luckily as he has planed and he will finally arrive at his dreaming land.Then he wins.So no matter he will success or not,he is his own hero.
After making his decision,he is surely a hero and a legend,at least to himself.
