尊老敬老是我们中华民族的传统美德，我们一直都在倡导要建设一个和谐的社会主义国家，留守老人是我们当前建设和谐社会的重要组成部分之一。他们很多都经历了新中国成立前后的心酸历史，他们是历史的见证者，改革开放以来，我们的社会发生了天翻地覆的变化，在社会发展繁荣的今天，我们更不能忘了那些留守在农村的空巢老人们，让他们也能享受到社会发展的成果。全社会都应一起努力，帮助、关心他们，设身处地为他们的晚年生活着想，让他们衣食无忧，有病得到及时治疗，临终得到关怀，使他们能幸福、快乐、健康地度过晚年，真真切切感到社会、家庭、儿女给予他们的亲情和温暖。农村空巢老人的问题应当引起我们整个社会的关注，并给与相应的帮助，同时，这类问题也应该警醒那些把自家老人置之度外的子女，人生在世，凭自己的良心做事，轮到自己的时候才能够老有所终，老有所养，老有所乐。

Respecting the elders is a traditional virtue of Chinese. We have always been calling for the building of a harmonious country. It is no doubt that the elders left behind are a pivotal part of it. Many of them have experienced sorrowful life of the founding of the Republic of China while witnissing the history. From the Reform and Open, our society has changed totally. In the days of a flourishing society, we shouldn't forget the elders left behind and we should bring the fruit of the prosperous society to them. All the people should try their best to help and care for them. Besieds, we must think for them in their shoes, let them fell free for clothes and food, let them get cure when they have diseases, let them feel cared when approaching their end so that they live their old age happily and breath the care and love from the society and families. The elders left behind in rural area ought to stir up the whole society's attention and help. On the other hand, this kind of problems will alert ones who don't care much for their parents because people will be looked after properly only if they are guided by their conscience.
