Most qualitative criteria are very subjective,and it is not an easy task to decide their preferences over others.In the case of the DC location selection problem,many qualitative criteria such as site characteristics,climate condition,soil condition,etc.,should be tackled effectively .It is recognized that human assessment of qualitative attributes is always subjective and imprecise.The crisp pairwise comparison of the conventional hierarchical process seems insufficient and too imprecise to capture the decision-maker’s judgement correctly.An ordinary decision-maker could not handle more than seven to nine decision elements simultaneously without being confused.Kawowski and Mital discussed the potential of the application of fuzzy sets in the industrial decision-making environment,with the argument that humans are more prone to interference from their biasing tendencies.They argued that the elicitation of numerical estimates forces an individual to operate in a mode that requires more mental effort than that required for less precise verbal statements.Fuzzy sets and theory have the capability effectively to transform the linguistic preferences into numerical values to deal with the vagueness or fuzziness inherent in subjective and or imprecise determination of preferences,constraints,and goals.In general,the facility or DC location problem is concerned with the determination of the optimal number,size,and geographical configuration of those facilities,keeping in mind the objective of minimizing the total cost associated with supply chain operations and the satisfaction of customer demand.In the case of the location selection problem,mathematical programming has usually been untilized to determine the optimal location of facilities
