It seems to me that during all this hoopla over the Russian ship with scientists on board that got stuck in severe ice conditions at the South Pole (during the southern hemisphere’s summer) and the later Chinese ice breaker also getting stuck in thick ice, that no one has bothered to mention that the goal of the scientists down there was to study “global warming.”
An Australian ice breaker had to turn back and the Chinese helicopter was to deliver the scientists to the Australian ice breaker because the Chinese ice breaker is also stuck. Now it seems two ships are stranded in the summer ice and a U.S. Coast Guard ice breaker is on its way to rescue them both.
Ah, “global warming” at its best.
