The year 1982 was a special one.Two famous young Chinese pianists were born in that year.They are Lang Lang and Li Yundi.
On May 15,Li had a successful solo concert at the Mational Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing.It was to celebrate the 200th birthday of Frederic Chopin,a great Polish pianist.
Chopin's music has played a big role in Li's life and career.Li won the 14th International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw,Poland in 2000.He was the first Prize in 15 years to win the Firt Prize and,at 18,also the youngest.
May people compare Li with Lang.Both are the same age.Both are called prodigies.Both once enterd the same recording company.
With his passionate style,Lang is a household name throughout the world,especially among young people.Li,however,appeats to be "keeping a low profile.
But Li seems relaxed about this."He(LangLang)is a very warm and friendly man,"he said."We have different styles.He likes playing in big stadiums and I like small places."
He called himself a "perfectionist",while playing music.
"It takes time to really feel,understand a piece of music and send it to listeners..For a piece,you can practice one day or 10 days or an few months.Maybe only 1 or 2 percent of the listeners will notice the slight difference,but I really care for that 1 or 2 percent."
