What he said was to tell us that we are supposed to do something foresight and based on the predecessors' experiences.Just like the boy of the picture,he just wanted to show his parents that he won’t make mistakes like his parents ever made.It’s obviously that he has remembered the parents’ words in his heart and he is also has drawn lessons from the failures of his life and the experiences of their parents.He has realized how to be a qualified college student,how to be a real man,how to deal with the matters,how to take care of himself,how to draw the experience.
Just like Newton said,reference is really important.Newton's success has its own endowments and efforts,but the previous work are really also inseparable,so Newton expressed his respect to the predecessors.
