这里的第一个为什么不用lost,第二个为什么用was losing,时态是怎么回事?

有两种可能,看周围的句子如何.（我知道这种题没有前言后语）
1）如果是现在时,就用has lost,描述现在的一种状况.现在完成时必须延续到现在,适用于描述如今的样貌,而过去式lost就与如今没有关系了.
2）如果一整段话都是过去式,那么第一个空格应该用had lost,因为过去式之前发生的事就是过去完成时了.如果说“has”包囊现在,那么"had“就意味着当时.
所以不管是1还是2,都不能直接用过去式.
