“Lamb to the Slaughter” is a short story by Roald Dahl which demonstrates a conflictive aspect of human beings Mary Maloney,a pregnant housewife who is the main character of the narrative; waits for her husband to return home from job every day.Once,her husband,Patrick Maloney comes back from work and talks something extremely awful to Mary,she kills Mr.Maloney afterward.“Hairs and The House on Mango Street” by Sandra Cisneros which is a short story about Esperanza,a young girl wants a real house since she was a little child and her personal emotion about her mom.“The Lottery” is a story written by Shirley Jackson,once a year the villagers gather together for the lottery.This time Tessie Hutchison who is a villager of the town wins the lottery but people close to her and stones her to death; she believes it is unfair.Everyone knows that this tradition of lottery is no willing to abandon; so she starts arguing with them.Even though these are three different stories but it will be telling only one focal point which is literary device.
