Some days agp,millions of kids turned on their televisions to watch the Nicklodeon channel,only to find that their favorite shows went off the air.Instead,a message on TV told them that it was the Worldwide Day of Play.Instead of watching TV that day,the message encouraged kids to get active.So,many kids took their skateboards,jump ropes or footballs,and went outside to play.This was the seventh year in a row that the special Nickelodeon event took place.
The network and its website went off the air form 12 to 3 pm."It's all about encouraging kids to go outside and play,"says Jean Margaret Smith,a worker at Nickelodeon.
The whole day,children were all smiling when they played basketball,tried a rock-climbing wall ane did other sports.Allthe cool activities offered many things kids can do instead of watching TV,lick riding a bick,learning something new or even just walking to a firend's house.
Kids in all 50 states and in 10 countries took part in this year's Worldwide Day of Play.
