Every day,in homes all over the world,people waste a lot of energy(能源) and water.Most energy is wasted through bad habits such as leaving lights,air-conditioners and televisions on when no one is in the room.A lot of water is wasted by using too much,or not turning off taps(龙头) in time.
Most people do not realize that money will be saved if we try to use less water,energy and something like that in the home.That is to say if people are sensible in using less energy,their water,gas and electricity bills will become lower.
Most of the ways in which we can save energy in the home are very simple.The best one is to turn things off when they are not in use.In rooms where you have an air-conditioner,you can save electricity by cleaning the filter.A filter consumes(消耗) 30 per cent more energy when it is
dirty.Also,set the air-conditioner at 25℃.Every one degree decrease（减少）adds 10 per cent to energy consumption.
In the bathroom,we should fix the taps that are broken at once.Even the smallest drip(水滴) wastes over 500 liters(升) of water each month.Take a shower and not a bath.Do not flush the toilet unnecessarily,since this also wastes water.
In the kitchen,steam or stir-fry food.Leave the lids on pots while cooking so that the food is heated up more quickly.Set the main refrigerator compartment at 3`C.Use the washing machine only when there is a full load.Hang clothes out to dry whenever possible instead of using a dryer
