Josie is a student in Grade 7 in England. She has to find out how people lived hundreds of years ago. She went to the library to LOOK FOR information. She found a picture of a house in 1990. She found out that people USED TO play the piano for fun. They also hung a photo of Queen Victoria on the wall. She ruled England. There were no lights then. It was cold and DARK in the room. People used fire for light. Lots of insects DIED when they flew to the light. There was no sofa or TV in the house, either. The toilet was at the back of the house. There was no candy to eat, no posters of pop stars, and no CDs or computers in the house. There was a cat, though. By studying, Josie learned about what daily life was like in 1990. She wrote a REPORT about it. Now she says that it is better to live in the modern world because there are so many things to enjoy nowadays.
